located in slateport city's upper district, the national museum of natural history is administered by the NEXUS INSTITUTE and directed by dr. GIDEON GRAVES.

GENERAL LAYOUT

the museum is divided into several wings:

HALL OF BONES & FOSSILS || travel through time by viewing fossilized skeletons and cast models, including a TYRANTRUM cast facing a BASTIODON cast and posed as if the two were interacting! the collection consists of forty-four complete and important specimens of ancient pokémon.

HALL OF HUMAN ORIGINS || meet your closest ancestors and relatives in this exploration of human evolution. discover fascinating stories of extinction and survival, and learn what set us apart from other species.

HALL OF GEOLOGY, GEMS, & MINERALS || dig in to unearth the secrets of our planet’s gems, minerals, rocks, earthquakes, and volcanoes. examine meteorites that hold the mysteries of the formation of our solar system.

HALL OF POKÉMON LIFE || marvel at the incredible variety of pokémon that share our earth! discover pokémon's adaptions to hugely diverse contexts and how they've changed over evolutionary time.

INSECTARIUM || explore the wonders of the insect world by visiting this multi-biome atrium. live bug-type pokémon of all shapes and sizes can be viewed year-round. some of our current pokémon on display include:

RESEARCH DIVISION

formalized curiosity on a large scale

beyond the museum's exhibitions lies a labyrinth of hallways, vast storage rooms, active laboratories, and busy offices — all filled with the sights and sounds of discovery! current strains of research fall into these disciplines: anthropology, botany, invertebrate zoology, mineral sciences, paleobiology, and vertebrate zoology.

STAFF & EMPLOYMENT

GIDEON GRAVES || director. duties include: supervision of everyday operations, long-term planning and fiscal health, maintenance of and acquisition for the collections, and overseeing any research that is conducted in/affiliated with the museum.

Remiel Calcifet || senior archaeologist. duties include: acquisition of new and notable pieces to add to the museum's growing collection. part of the department of draconid studies with research and field work focused on this area of study.

Eris Halla || youth ambassador. duties include: help to facilitate meaningful learning and engagement in the "jr. scientist" program. participate in youth events held by the museum.

howard slayte || research scholar. duties include: analyzing, interpreting, and documenting research findings for review and eventual publication. assisting in the preparation of proposals and grants.

ARTIFACT ACQUISITIONS || the national museum of natural history is well known for it's expertly curated exhibits. for both research and display purposes, the museum - and gideon by extension - is always on the market for new artifacts/specimens/objects of scientific significance/etc. this plot would be applicable to adventurer/contractor characters or those looking to branch out and explore the region!

BIG BUSINESS || have you ever wanted to rent out a museum for your company party? charity event? [insert special occasion here]? what about establishing your career in a fun, educational setting, whether that be as a docent, curator, researcher, and beyond? look no further! director graves is always open to talking business.

BUG BRAIN || one of gideon's pride and joys is the natural history museum's INSECTARIUM, a large, multi-biome atrium where guests can walk through and view live insect pokémon. in particular, gideon is interested in obtaining all VIVILLON forms, but also bug-types in general to keep on display. i'm always up for threading a DW in a bug-type route!

FOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE || gideon is currently accepting lab assistants as well as graduate and postdoctoral students interested in working under him in his laboratory. ideal candidates will have a strong background in the biological sciences with specializations in evolutionary biology, genetics, microbiology (focusing on disease-transmitting organisms), or similar fields. alternatively, he's also hiring interns and staff researchers from many different disciplines and is interested in collaborating with outside scientists!
